Got a new 22" LCD monitor (rather sweeeet!) cept that everyone got ...pot bellied due to the resolution. So I asked in game what resolution I should use and someone suggested ..I think 1200 X 1600 on fullscreen or something. When I applied it my game crashed out and now when I try to get in this is the message I get;

You need to fix your resolution, thats whats crashing the game.

Find your config file (q3config.ctg, wordpad works well) in the q3ut4 directory and change to;

seta r_customPixelAspect "1"
seta r_customheight "1050"
seta r_customwidth "1680"

If that doesn't work and you still get that error message then just check whatever resolution the desktop is using and change the height and width to that.

What Karrde said. You're using an aspect ratio for a square monitor. 22" is widescreen. I use 1680x1050 on my 22".

if you want a quick fix just so your game loads open your cfg and change the r_mode to i think 4 or 6... one of those is 1024x768 which will allow you to atleast get the game running

the quick fix we ended up using was to rename the config file... so another base file was created...and started from scratch lol

Cant hit nothin now!

eeeew shouldn't be that bad!

and its not because it was square - i've never heard of a monitor can't handle square resolutions. Its the fact that 1600 X 1200 is a higher res than the screen can support.

tis more likely you exceeded the capabilities of your graphics card. the new resolution was so high it didnt know where to fall back to. \$=>
