It is probably not too hard, to do that yourself.

Search the internet for a manual/schematic first, have a look to find out where the drive is located and how much you have to disassemble.

It is probably not that hard.

Search places like pccasegear, to find the hard drive price.

Get a quote from a computer shop also, it may not be worth the hassle, doing it yourself.

Most DVD drives are held in by one or two screws, move the lock to unlock and slide out the drive.

Stating what lappy would help greatly ;)

Also remember that a laptop drive won't be a full sized desktop one either.

sorry for the late reply! thank guys, looks easier with the video , i will give it a try. although i am not sure should i just get a new one completely, because there is a pink line at the bottom of my screen that flickers alot, suspecting the display is going to give way. Then my laptop is awfully hot to touch at times despite using a cooler fan.

I am using a toshiba satellite and it is 3-4 years old. So should i take the risk to change it or wait till it K.Os and get a new laptop. What would you do?

If you don't know how to do it just get an external drive like
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... s_id=20832

or there's plenty of cheaper ones too

Back all the important data on an external HD so that if the laptop bricks you dont have to bother salvaging anything.
