TheBait, can u do me a favor mate. Can u do another run with your CPU @ 3ghz just like mine. I just wanted to see the difference between my system and yours, with the same CPU speeds.

Cheers :P

I'm guessing the bench is DX11 only?

Hey. I gave overclocking my PC ago and got a new score

P7977 - i7 920 C0 @ 3.8GHz - HIS HD5970 @ 900/1200

http://3dmark.com/3dm11/76083

So that is a 24.6% increase when I overclock :D

I could probably overclock the CPU to over 4GHz and the GPU to atleast 930/1210 with a little more voltage in order to get over 8000, but I am not that dedicated. I am sure Jonny5 would be happy to break the 8000 or even 9000 mark for me :) and Kanguru the 10,000 mark if he is still around :P

Shouldn't be a problem, just a bit busy ATM though ;)
Still a great score at only 3GHz!!

Yeah sorry, Dogg's correct it's DX11.

Haha, sweet score Mack :)

Funny thing is I really thought it would have scored higher due to the 90000Mhz core and 130000Mhz mem clock lol

Wonder where all the heavy weights are? I was not expecting to have 1st place this long.

Where is Jonny5, Himmler, Blaise and Kanguru these days.

I just checked out the old benchmark thread and I didn't know I managed to overclock my card to 945/1300. Jesus should of written down how I managed that.

Thanks The_Bait, yeah suprisingly, the score remains high, only a drop of 100 pts for 1ghz of CPU speed. This is a good thing though, cos the score is a good representation of gaming power, as the GPU is the main driver @ 1080p res or higher, provided that the CPU is fast enough to begin with.

Diluted, what motherboard do u use? Im still pumping my first gen 965p hehe.

I run the test however it crashes (Windows has experienced an error...) at the beginning of the CPU Physics test. Every other benchmark I've ran, from Sandra, previous 3dmarks, Pcmark, Superpi and Prime95 are stable and work. Also games that I've benchmarked like Crysis, F1 and AvsP run fine too.

I might drop the overclock a few MHz and see if it makes a difference.

Diluted, yeah thats a P45 chipset i beleive, much improved since the 965p. After 965, they had the P35, then came yours, the P45. That and the 5870 helps explains the great score difference hehe. Core 2 Quad CPUs are still damn powerful.

Johnny5 is here. Waiting for next graphics driver.

This one is not getting good performance at all for 3dmark11. Painful.

10.11 cap4 has a release note, improve crossfire performance for 3dmark11.

Yeah the P45 chipset is notorious for stability & overclocking, I have had mine running since july 08 with not one problem. Other users on here have had nothing but trouble with the X48 chipset which was meant to be "supreme" in it's day.

Why? Just run everything at stock and you will probably still get first place

There is something wrong with the drivers and crossfire, as usual.
GraphicsTest4 16.81 FPS, just over 15fps, makes me lol.
Going back to older drivers will get my crossfire working, but i am sick and tired of it. I just take what the driver can deliver. Without juggling drivers my 2nd 5970 is useless.

wow

I am not sure how the hell that works considering I have the same card as you but minus 1 and you have a much more powerful CPU that is overclocked beyond mine.

I guess this driver problem only affects 4 x GPU crossfire

I disabled crossfire, got a better score. 10.5 and earlier drivers use all GPU's. Some later ones as well, which ones are good, i cant keep track of. Driver is still stuffed for my config. Pray for 10.12

This is something ATI advertises as working, but it hasn't worked since a driver release 6 months ago. The old drivers had different bugs also. Very bad people ATI, really hate them.

I was wondering when you might appear, now this is your chance to flog me in at least one benchie lol :P

Also thanks for the link Fluffy 8-)

Are you a bit gutted that Futuremark doesn't bloat Nvidia scores up anymore ? :P

Yeah mate it's a big slap around the balls with a wet fish lol :P

But seriously, it's good to see a bench that actually has uniformity and shows the raw power of each GPU with little cpu dependence :ugeek:

Now if a few more Nvidia users would submit to the ladder it should make for a interesting comparison.

Well my issue is not O/C issue, the error i get is:

Workload work failed with error message: window_focus_lost: Keyboard focus lost

Official reply:

Would imply that some other program stole focus (in essence, tried to draw something on the screen on top of the benchmark, which would invalidate the score). Common culprits include email programs that pop up "you have new mail" messages or antivirus programs popping up warnings etc.

Few people have tried this with no luck, then later they respond and say:

No this thread is not dead but at this point I have no new instructions what to try to prevent lost focus.

Bait you can delete my score if you want, had issues with the card so I ended up getting a refund and what's even better is the new msi brand 6850 oc edition does the exact same thing. Yes I know it screams that its my pc and not the card but after dropping the 6850s mem speed to 900 I don't have any problems at all. From what I've read there's issues regarding either the mems voltage and/or the mems temp itself, I'm going to stick with the card for now hoping that drivers or something will fix it but I tell ya what I seriously doubt I'd ever get another ati card.

B4 the psu q's start, I'm running a shaw 500w...........

I'm joking I'M JOKING :P its an old Thermaltake 750w Toughpower W0116.

Nah, Its all good ASASN, your score is still valid even if your hardware has changed slightly now :)

Bummer about the problems though, don't wanna start a war here but if I was to average out all the problems I've encounted over the years regarding Nvidia vs ATI issuses, I believe ATI based machines would be leading the list :o
Of course in saying that, you have to remember I only deal with people that have problems and so, don't hear all the probable success stories.....

Does it make me bias, bloody oath, but this is only "my perspective", right or wrong lol

/where's my flame suit!!!!!! haha

Edit: just noticed the NDA has been lifted for the 69xx series, time for some reading....

Very nice score R-Type :)

Looks like ATI are the dominating force with this bench  where are all the green team users? Rats from a sinking ship syndrome lol....

Hope I don't have to go out and buy a GTX580

New Catalysts + 3DM11 Patch + Overclocking CPU and ATI Overdrive

http://bit.ly/gIXAwO

Score:
P4506 3DMarks

i7950 @ 3.8ghz* - Gigabyte HD5870 @ 900/1200

*3dmark reports it at 3.6 and gigabyte easy tuner reports it at 3.6 too, there must be a multiplier that cranks it to 3.8 in actual speed.

Also, my 5870 is a Gigabyte not HIS lol. HIS was my old x1950xtx card.

Certainly nothing wrong with that updated score Mack, 3rd on the ladder :D

That is good enough for a bronze medal...but we're all out, so please feel free to fabricate your own lol :P

Edit: This green vs red war brings out the worst in me, Mawhahaha.....

Hehe good old HIS. I have my old HIS X1950XTX sitting behind me in the cupboard. I remember when I moved from a 9200SE to the X1950XTX I thought WOW this card is MASSIVE. I now own a HIS HD5970 the current largest card

3 slot cards will probably become common place one day

Never had a HIS card fail on me.
