Well most of us have put in some good hours in oblivion. so what would you rate it so far? & what is your favorite rpg to date?
me i would rate it a 9.8 out of 10. its one out of this world game that is very close to perfect. one of the best rpg's yet made.
& im 100% sure its only going to get better. have not done any of the main quest yet but i hear its awesome.. all the side quests i have done so far are amazing. really well made game all round. few little problems but most will get patched.
my favorite rpg would be planescape torment but i think oblivion will overtake that. it might have already.

The game is great , they have done a great work appart from the level scaling
i will rate it 8/10
there is so much more needed to game the game perfect
a better character creation (not only the head, altho it need more hair)
the map is big but it does feel pretty small
a progressive map , it was in morrowind
more armures , its pretty limited
there are quite a few fonctionality that were great in morrowind that arent in oblivion

have to see what the devs do about it.

9.5 Amazing game, however I wont pretend there isn't room for improvement. The world continues to amaze and suprise me. Yes, being a big morrowind fan I am a little disapointed with the scaling system, but it really hasn't put that great a damper on the entire experience.

Primarily because so far the game hasn't presented enough of a challenge for me, lack of new and original items, level scaling and personally I dislike the new travel system as it makes the game feel so much smaller.
All the awesome elements of the game everyone knows so I'm not going to repeat them.

Just don't use it. I don't. If temptation is just too great though, I can point you in the direction of a mod that disables it.

Haven't grasped the full concept of level scaling - is that where you will never find a mob that isn't your level? Also anyone know what the max level is?

Scaling is when the dungeons including enemies and items, are all placed within a certain range of your level. For example you may walk into a "tough" dungeon, which might mean that every monster will be one level higher than you and the boss might be four levels higher, and the items that drop will relate to your level.
IE iron and crap at low levels, dwarven and elven and orcish at mid levels, then glass and daedric etc at higher levels.
It takes some of the sense of danger out of the game when you always know that enemies are catered towards you, not the other way round. Yeah there are mods to change this, but i'm going to finish the game once before I kick in any gameplay changing mods, and the difficulty slider just makes the game more irritating by making them do more damage and higher hitpoints.
I got a kick out of morrowind by venturing into a dungeon where I KNOW one wrong move is going to get my *** kicked, so I would have to prepare and concentrate more.

9/10
Brilliant game and definitely one of my favourite games of all time. (It's just beaten Planescape: Torment, and is encroaching on Quest for Glory's turf).
There's always some things that could be improved, but apart from some of the engine problems I can't think of anything I'd drastically change. Probably deserves a 10/10, but I'd just feel stupid when Elder Scrolls 5 comes out if I'd already given away a 10/10.

I've been playing computer games since before the original Bard's tale came out. Over the last couple of years I've found it hard to find a game that would hold my interest for more than a week's playing. That was until Oblivion came along! 9.5/10 0.5 off for difficulty scaling system, which hopefully will be addressed in the next patch. A small problem though, my biggest issue is getting the time to play!

Just a few glitches styff it up. Easily the best RPG I've ever played.

Must play...
Once I finish it, I'll start a new one, and then after I finish that I want to be a pure mage. So much variety!
I got morrowind, bloodmoon and tribunal the other day for \$20! Not as good as oblivion, more complex and lack of fast travel gets tedious.
