Like Metallica but never heard of Canibal Corpse, is like rocking up to the hell angels on a vespa.
If you want to feel like a sickcunt, go the Harley, If you want a nice scenic ride through Southern Italy, a Vespa is an ideal bit of gear.

yes rulez, you had alot to do with this thread turning into a debate about the roots of heavy metal, bravo rulez, bravo ruleofbookz wrote: i do live inner city Melbourne so it would be very easy for me to throw up some weird little bands that just play small obscure venues that no ones really heard of,,, yet,,, but everyone will be talking about in 5 years time but,,,
But you know what? You have a pretty much dead thread here until i came along, added a little conflict bumped it a few times got some posts up, not much but some. I made this thread better but you don't see that because your head lives up your **** with all the stereotypical hipster lines you think you know so well you get to parody them it was about there that u went full retard

So you fired the 1st shot and even after id held out an olive branch. You dont have the highground here u mean bastard

ruleofbookz wrote: btw your picks are all bad except The Future Sound of London... it was you who fired the first shot, then i replied: NEXUS6 wrote: im not going to get into a debate about the bands i like. dude, post a lineup or dont. why was it so hard for you at that point to just move on. honestly, it felt like you came to the thread and decided to provoke some kind of debate about taste in music. you didnt bother to offer up any other reasons, just that i had "bad" taste in music. so yes, i took offense to that but figured if i came out bluntly and said i didnt want to get into said debate, everything would have been dropped at that point, but no, you had to keep going on about how it was your right to pick everyone elses lineups apart and that was the point of the forum bla bla bla. well it wasnt the point of the thread imo, i tried to stipulate that in my very first post, and my follow up response to yours but that just didnt seem to get through to you. whats funny is when i finally decided that i was interested in hearing wether you had any kind of intelligent reasons why you thought my choices were bad, you were nowhere to be seen. no response, no nothing. honestly, i hold all those bands close to my heart and i sure as hell took offense to someone bluntly saying they were bad picks. but i never wanted to debate that point with you, as i said, there would be nothing you could say that would change how i felt about those bands and i just felt having that debate would be a waste of time. but then it was comments like this: ruleofbookz wrote: i do live inner city Melbourne so it would be very easy for me to throw up some weird little bands that just play small obscure venues that no ones really heard of,,, yet,,, but everyone will be talking about in 5 years time but,,, that got me to the point where i was like, **** this guy, you really come across like some musical elitist, and ive seen this from you in other threads as well, that you feel the need to make snide remarks about people tastes in music/movies/consoles/fashion etc because they dont fit your definition of awesome. well, im still awaiting some kind of intelligent critique of the bands in my lineup...

Missing the watch Bookz!
I usually associate brown with old man fuddy duddy suits.
That's not an old man suit though. Still not sure if I could wear brown though. Actually I'd wear brown over grey.

Oh its fuddy duddy now eh ;p But what age is an old man hmmm? 70? 80? 100? And whats wrong with looking like an "old man" - its funny walking around in a suit that would fit into a 1960's Mad Men episode, or around a retirement home, just for kicks **** and giggles That look its also a little of the old world where my family originates from so combine that 1960's thing with a German landed gentleman of 1910's Europe - u could call that an "old man"and we are getting closer people here dont get that what you look like is just a game a bit of fun its important because its not important at all you put a huge amount of effort into it because it doesnt require any effort and its vital because art is vital but not worth a cent and no one really cares about it - you either get it or you don't but that is part of what style is about As for the watch its hard to say from that shot - taken in my reflection from a dirty window looking over the international parking lot - and i have about 5 watches but really they are all just for show -aesthetic value- as its the smartphone that really tells me the time, and how hot it is, and the date, and if i have any meetings or messages or when my flight it etc etc and ive always got my smartphone on me usually in my vest pocket where 100 years ago a gentleman would have kept a round gold pocket watch on a fob chain

Been awhile since I've listened to Evile.
Will be interesting to see if they really make any huge contributions. They'll need to break out of the classic thrash mold though. As a genre pure thrash is just rehashing itself. Don't forget that the most successful thrash bands took thrash into a more epic direction (look at the difference between RtL and MoP, and then MoP to AJFA).
Trivium are probably the band that will be carrying the metal flag in the future. I hope they can really find their feet as they have shown what they can do - listen to the song Shogun which is currently their masterpiece - however they are yet to make an album which is through and through to that level.
Machine Head are the band that are carrying the metal flag now. Easily the best live metal act for a number of years now and Unto the Locust is simply a monstrous album. I think they can lift the game one more time, but it wouldn't surprise me either if they decided to make their Black album next instead. What happens after that I don't know.
The genre which saddens me the most is melodic death metal. In Flames were clearly its champion in the early days and they have just turned to ****. Unfortunately no other band really came close to what Lunar Strain, Subterranean, Jester Race and Whoracle.

Unfortunately no other band really came close to what Lunar Strain, Subterranean, Jester Race and Whoracle. Im not a big fan of Melo Death, turns bad pretty quickly. I do listen to Anterior and Arsis, they are stand out bands. The only band I really put on a pedestal is Judas Priest but now the Judas Priest chapter has come to a close. I just wonder in and out of all the symphonic/battle metal and progressive death metal bands, I havent even looked up Iron Maiden in 4 or 5yrs. Iced Earth has been a huge focus for me though after 10yrs of following them religiously I still cant get enough Iced Earth. I dont have much faith in those blonde pussy melo death Finnish bands. Anterior and Arsis have amazing melo death guitar work but the metalcore vocals really start to become over-powering in Ateriors latest album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZfdbxpOdHohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_EpB6C1 ... ure=relmfuBoth those songs are **** sick.

Thinking about it I couldn't even call those songs as melodic death not in the face of a song classic In Flames. Most melodic death bands out there are really a thrash-deathcore style now. Even In Flames can't be called melodic death anymore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGnTB2dEyMk

Its doesnt really matter to me that much Prog Death is more important. Obscura http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEsgYzK7 ... re=relatedEvery single song is **** amazing.

I agree in death metal today prog death is more important, but not as important as the Gothenburg melodic scene from about 1993-2000. That era made it possible for bands like Obscura, Arch Enemy, Anterior, Arsis and so many more bands not exclusive to death metal that started around 2000+.

Melodic Death metal is irrelevant to Technical Death Metal they branched out right at the begining. Carcass = "Melo-Death" Morbid Angel/Death/Cannibal Corpse = "Tech-death", "Tech-Death" = Necrophagist. Necrophagist = "Progressive Death Metal" derived from Jazz influences and progressive rock with the direct if not indirect influences of Malmsteen. Obscura also cover Morbid Angel and the drummer is from Necrophagist. Beyond Creation is also another amazing Prog Death band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWzSZWftu8U. I dont know wtf this band is suppose to be, it sounds like Space Metal, they are calling it progressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7ZAbNs4 ... re=related

These Progressive Death Metal bands have got me really excited. Technical Death Metal was always around for years with bands like Nile, Spawn of Possession, Psycroptic but this Prog Death stuff just gives me a massive boner. Alot of top **** bands come out of Quebec's metal scene as well, really good Death Metal.
