Can't believe there isn't a thread for this yet. New episode was out today.

First, I've have never hated a character as much as King Joffrey. The actor is either an absolute **** in real life too or just great at acting like one.

Not a lot action so much in the episode, but it has set it up well for further ones. Although there is some grisly scenes at the end (mostly implied). I haven't read the books but I reckon the end battle will come down to the Lannisters vs Stark + allies, with Stark losing until Kahlisi and her dragons show up to help and then call a truce with Stark.

I thought it was a pretty good ep, the actor who plays Tyrion is unreal, his mannerisms are really accurate with the books, and that young actor playing King Joffrey does a top job of making you hate him. Some things have been changed to better suit TV but they've done a great job so far staying true to the story. Look forward to more Arya, she has a really good story line.

Going by your guess you're in for alot of surprises mate! So many awesome plot twists and turns, sort of sucks knowing what is coming up, but is still a top show. Do yourself a favour and read the books if you have the time, i'm on the last one he's written thus far and i haven't been able to put the series down.

Yeah was a good ep. So many characters now, almost seems the show isnt long enough to give them all enough time to tell their stories.

Are they going to be that similiar to the books though? Dexter season 1 was roughly based on the first book then it went completely different.

I don't reckon they'll move away from the books, the story isn't one they can chop and change. And the new episode didn't give any indication it would, it followed the start of book 2.
Will take years to finish the show though, a season a book, i think the series is going to be 7 books long once complete.

Thoroughly loving Tyrion, he's the perfect adaption from book to movie. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Davros, he was a favorite character for me in the books.

I enjoyed the first episode of S2, I watched Season 1 before reading the books so because of that picked up the books, however now that I've read them I was a little disappointed with how quickly certain things were moved over in the first episode, I realise that because its only 10-12 episodes long for season, the book is moved through quickly, but was still a little disappointed.

Other then that, loved it.

yeah ive read all the books so far and really chuffed with the TV adaption - S2 not disappointing

one of the main mechanics of the series is change - twists and turns - rise today fall tomorrow. That sort of thing with the mighty raised up and cast low only to be replaced and the interesting thing is those not destroyed become sometimes better sometimes worse.

my favs are tyrion and aria. Dannares just shat me off all the way to almost the end of the last book published (book 5?) until she finally started to get better tho others might like her style/ path choices

What did you blokes think of episode #2? I thought there were a couple of differences from the book, but it wasn't too bad an ep, still building up to some big moments.

series 1 was book 1 and this series isnt really game of thrones any more its book 2 - a clash of kings

but yeah the books love jumping between characters and places etc and the show does that but it misses lots of stuff too but it would be massive to include everything - blow out the season by another dozen eps at least

They cant make more eps its too expensive, the first season alone cost $60 million making it the most expensive tv show. As for going to fast, most people who watch the show wont have read the books so they cant take it to slow or people will get bored and stop watching.

yeah i know a lot of ppl for season 1 didnt like the "slow eps" where there was little action

But ppl only say they want lots of action. its the "slow boring stuff" that actually pads out the plot and characters and makes you care about what the action resolves

still even with a show like this i bet the majority of people watching are just noobs who couldnt tell you a good tv show from a bad one and wouldnt know what end of this particular series was the pointy end to stick em with

I think you will find people watching this show have high expectations and dont take kindly to **** cheap filler episodes involving character development that doesnt deliver on that Game of Thrones epicness.

Im sure John Hurt was in the last episode by the way.

Too much gay in this weeks episode, they're playing that relationship up so much more than necessary. Noticed a few differences from the book again, but nothing too major. Solid episode but not great.

How the hell do they expect you concentrate on what Petyr Baelish (Aiden Gillen) is saying during that lesbian scene?? Hope it wasn't important because I didn't bother to go back...

It was sad to see that guy from the Knights Watch get killed so quickly, he was a funny bugger and one of my favorite characters. Also seems the dwarf is wasting no time removing all the traitors, hes awesome hope he lives on.

you can usually pick the survivors but the series will really spin u out if u get certain on who will survive because they will be dead so fast but rest assured the dwarf does pretty well for himself but i dont want to spoil it any more then that

this whole book and hence this series is about the kings tho so its how they rise and fall thats important,,, for now

Thats the problem with shows that follow books, the writer doesn't give a **** about the individual characters when they are killed off, whereas when you watch the movie/tv series, and the person playing a character who dies early in the story, turns out to be an awsome actor with great lines... even the director can't keep him on without heavily altering the novel its based on.

On the other hand its also what makes people care about/be interested in the show because they kill off our favorite characters. Like when they killed Ned Stark (Sean Bean) everyone was shocked. Not saying I like the good characters being killed off, but if the innocent as we see them didn't suffer it wouldn't be a very interesting story. In a way i'm glad I haven't read the books, because this show is greatly about not knowing who lives and who dies.

The shock factor worked very well to set up the following books though, thats the main pretense for the entire war for the throne when Ned Stark is beheaded.

As for the TV series, I am so far a little bit disappointed, I enjoyed S1 thoroughly but S2 is moving through things way too quick and chopping and changing every 30 seconds, and skipping over things that I thought were important in the books.

Oh well, still one of the best TV show's on telly though.

No, he was making up an excuse to ban you forever.

The real reason would be because you're a **** stupid hipster ***. But he can't put that down as being a 'Valid' Banning Reason.

leaking story lines is the new cool.
Being the first person to watch a TV show is uber cool.
Unless of course you dont spend 2500 hours a year watching 'days of our lives', because that is just lame.

Latest episode had heaps of differences once again, but i'm starting to just watch it as a separate story from the books so i can still enjoy it.
Tyrion is killing it, spewing they cut over Robbs battle scenes again and went straight to the victory (i know they do in the book but that's one aspect they could change for the betterment of the show.)
And they did the shadow birth surprisingly well, i was wondering how that was going to work on screen.

except they tell you nothing about why the shadow is so important and while they tell u about storms end they dont mention there is one of the kingdoms most impenetrable castles there being held by Stannis but Rennly has it at siege and vastly out numbered so stannis has no real choice.

But i was admiring the starting animation and how clever it is they have that at the start - i mean look at all good fantasy novels and they always start with a map and they made that transition over to the TV series - clever - and it also gives people who haven't read the book a quick guide to where stuff is going on and it just looks cool the little buildings constructing themselves

Next episode needs more violence and that Dragon Chick needs to get naked more often.

Blood and Tits.

Win.

Joffery - what a guy right. Great king and all round nice guy.

But yeah the books have it always going around and coming around but unfortunately its not just the **** - its a slippery slope for everyone.

Its like ned got his but his crime was loyalty. Lots of stuff like that happening / how quickly fate can reverse those on top with those below

You can see the book shining through in the political aspects in Season 2 but the show itself is very bland and is living for the moment (when that guy gets executed last episode **** brutal), it has too many dumb/slow scenes especially the romantic encounters.

Show is getting boring, nothing is happening, the dragon bird has done nothing all season but walk around a desert. Time to start culling some characters show is getting very bloated and using up time they could focus on Peter Dinklage who is awesome everytime he is on screen

I don't understand how people can get bored, what with all the political intrigue, dodgy shenanigans, and tits.

It's not home and away ****, they're not going to introduce a brooding outlaw or have a murder mystery each weak to appease people with no attention span.

i must say its a bit like that in the books.

There is much build up and things are going mostly fine - even tho, like the show, the books jump between different characters and places.

Nothing much will happen lots of talking and thinking and going here and there small events and then suddenly boom, out of no where, a massive thing that changes everything.

again like what happened to ned or the dragons arriving (and what that means + the comet too) those big events.

ITs only then in hindsight u can look back and say "oh right when ned made the choice to do that it led to him doing that and he even had a choice to do something else then but he didnt and now look at him"

its part of the fun of reading the books u have time to read about the big events described then you can just put the book down a sec and think of all that stuff - the show doesn't allow that it tho because its TV and they cant put every detail in (but they do a great job of what they film and how they film it to make up for those lost details - like stuff happening in the background - if u hadn't read the books its just background stuff with little meaning).

The show has to keep plodding on but the show still has heaps of detail and some of those details make no sense until a few book ahead when u look back and go "ahhhhhhhhhhhh"

When the new king of the North/Winterfell, Son of Stark, had that battle we never saw then met that girl trying to help the dieing soldiers I thought it was Home and Away. Then all the **** in the Wild Lands beyond the wall had that romance scene were he runs off after the red head, I was starting to wonder if was Home and Away. If the Lannister dwarf didnt have the political dialogue of a well thought out book this show would be dead in the water, this season just doesnt deliver in every other respect.

they dont talk about it in the book either. Just one paragraph of setting up how the ambush worked: steep valley in the whispering woods where the lanisters were marching thru and winterfell archers on both ridge tops and then charges by winterfell knights down the valley and up the valley so the lanisters were entirely crushed.

That description is basically what the book tells u. Same with the girl - he goes away u hear about him winning here and there and then he comes back with a girl. In fact the TV shows gives u much more on the girl then the books do.

remember the books focus on dif characters but the characters will hear about other characters / events which the reader might have already read about. Will read ready about or are in fact lies and dont really happen at all.

TV show doesnt give the books justice but its still pretty good.

Season 1 had a strong character presence, Sean Bean, The King Slayer, The King from Season 1, the big Barbarian horde king that was **** slamming the platinum blonde mother of dragons, S2 the way its going will force the show under HBO's Rome series which is a shame.

yeah far more politics and also the main characters get dispersed around the world more (like john snow going nth from the wall and the princess getting sent to dorne) so its setting the stage for interesting events that happen in book 3 or even 4 - they just have to get there 1st

They changed a **** from the book in episode 7! I'm confused as with the way they're going about Danaerys, and why Arya is serving Tywin (and that relationship) still perplexes me.
Still a great show, just seem to be strange changes to the plot.

Looking forward to Arya and Jon Snow's storylines in the next few episodes, should get interesting

yes not exactly the battle from the books but close

pay attention to the song at the end. ITs from the novels. The Rains of Castlemire or such. About a minor house from castlemire who gave offense to the Lanisters so the lanisters went to their lands and utterly destroyed them the castle was thrown down to the last stone everyone put to the sword and the earth salted so nothing would grow.

its why people dont **** with the lanisters
