Well acutaly... i dont, but if some nice Gameop turns it on in server 1 i will :D
I would suggest disabling saber throw though, since that saber throw + grip thing can get anoying and we dont want another miknet here :p

done.

I've set it as follows:

* Force powers are enabled
* Saber throw is disabled
* Force regen time is slightly increased
* Flip kick is not enabled

Not many people on the servers these days, so I can't see any harm in making a few changes and see what happens

Any feed back from players would be appreciated as to whether this change should be permanent or if its annoying. No harm in trying out new things. I'm not personally a fan of force enabled settings, but perhaps with careful moderation and tweaking we can prevent players from misusing the powers like in other servers.

What's the point of making crappy little changes?
We already had enough bad gameops that put on JA+ and rubbish settings/mods in an attemt to bring the servers to life (and one did it to kill single saber, thx myekie).
Guess what, it didn't work.
The games dead, there's a few good players that come on now and then but if the servers are set up for crap players and movie battlers, might aswell shut them down and leave it to miknet, they do it better.

I do like the game, still play now and then. Don't like to see the state of aus JA ruined further by noobs and fans of JA+.

Yeah, because adding force to sabers is turning everything to ja+! But why disable saber throw? That's just stupid.

Oh please, we all hate ja+, hell if we wanted that mod we would simply ask for it to be installed.
but force powers do not = ja+
The game is designed to have force powers, haveing them off is like having half the game disabled (in my opinion anyway)

Because saber throw plus force choke can be used as an exploit that un-blockable.
Really its a mistake in the game, they should have made it that when you use force choke you cant throw your saber for a second or 2.
And its because of expliots like this that force was disabled on this server in the first place.

thanks for the input nat7, rather scathing, but not really constructive or helpful.

As dx pointed out, force powers have nothing to do with ja+. I added the powers as a temporary measure on 1 of the 4 servers to see how people respond, so a simple 'i dont like em' would suffice (server 4 will be kept as is for die-hard saber lovers). Also, attacking previous attempts at revamping the game does little to help the current situation, as does calling ops noobs.

In regards to disabling saber throw, as dx pointed out there are combinations of force usage that are unblockable, such as the saber throw-pull ***** tactic. I see no problems in attempting to create a server that is midway between a) no force, and b) pwn the noobs with repetative grip and saber throw whoring. If people like the full force with no restrictions, then there is always miknet.

The force powers can be tweaked or removed, but without constructive feedback it is hard to find a solution that makes everyone semi-happy. I personally prefer no-force servers, but I am attempting to find a mid-range option to hopefully cater for the majority.

I thought it would be a good idea, but those big FFA's just aren't the same with lightning and grip spam :( that's just me though. Maybe you could turn #2 into a force server and then make the siege server CTF/Siege rather then just siege. Just an idea.

i agree with mim, ff on server1 just isnt the same... thats what was fun about s1 you could have mass melee's without some force ***** jumping in an getting 6 kills through lightning. my 2 cents. btw tris grats on oppage mate.

7 months oppage now i think it is.. anyway nah tweaking just leads to more wingers and you'll end up changing it like every week to suit every individuals favorite settings, i'd go for what mimi suggested, force can be fun for awhile but then its just gets gay.

It means you actually know the ins and outs of the game, how to play it and what works and what dosn't.
We don't ever seem to have gameops like this, but noobs that throw on JA+ and bad settings to make up for their own lack of skill.

rebounds just an older player, thus making him better then most.
but still ja was good in 2003-2004 , no dough but now, mb2 has more of a cut to it

Not that comparing player skill has any real point, but i'm fairly certain Tris could take out rebound in a 1 on 1.
Specialy since rebound probably hasnt played in ages.
Also Ja+ was implimented by Mikie (i think) not tris. and the current mod has everything on base values. So that kind of detroys your "Bad settings" comment.

As to the topic of having force on/off... Personaly i don't really mind either way, its good to have a force battle now and then, but also as mimi mentioned force kinda screws the standard mass saber melee thing.
Perhaps a vote is in order?
Or maybe someone should look at the server logs and see if more players have been playing with force on than off.. (if jka has logs that is)

That's possibly one of the funniest posts here ever. Have you applied to be a gameop yet? Your definately clueless and out of touch with this game enough. Thanks for the laugh, keep them coming.

ive never said i was better then anyone nor do i believe i am any better then somone else, iam saying being good dosent dictate an opinion. therefore everyones opinion should be taken into account, not just those of good players with egos the size of Europe.

Not so much "being good", but your whole history in JA was basically just getting owned like a noob, ruining TFFA games and spam vote kicking people for no reason with link

i love force, it adds a whole dimension to the game. I love kicking too.. But if u gota remove it thats fine,

Really.

i miss the jk2 days with force + kickfliping + decient regen, Was always fun to have a massive saberfight, ur idiot opponent fall off a platform and lucky ur grip /pull can grab him and throw him back to fight some more :P

Heres a good config i think would work for everyone:

s1: FFA sabers, no force or guns, no voting, bespin streets map, no map rotation
s2: TFFA sabers, no force or guns, no voting, cloudshark map, no map rotation
s3: All gametypes, force, guns, voting, all maps.
s4: Duel, leave how it is but change map rotation to duel10, duel1, duel 4.

It's very easy to set up a map rotation with rcon, you don't need to be an admin.
If you don't know how I'll give you my old script.
