Just change. Have you made a record of time date etc of the complaint? If you have report them to the appropriate authorities and change companies.
Sometimes the paying the penalty far out ways the grief you will continue to get. However, depending on the cause, it may follow you to the new company but at least they will get it fixed.

Just remember don't disconnect before you change otherwise you will be classed as a new customer and will incur a setup fee. So just check other companies, ring the one you want (Use whirlpool.org, I think that's the addy to help narrow down your choice, try TPG if you can, they are offering really good deals.).

Thanks for that link Prommy, I was drawing a blank on the name of the group.

Good luck dude, all fingers crossed.

Agreed. Also check up on the company as well. I joined Westnet to get away from iiNet. 3 months later iiNet brought out Westnet (so to speak). After than plans went south along with customer service and support.

Another great company is Aussiebroadband. Customer service is brilliant.

yes they are a **** rip off , even gamearena is preventing me from disclosing about thier evil plans...

i registered an account and link it to bigpond as a customer.
NO confirmation emails were received, when i try to recover my passwords, it says, its disabled -.-'

so I registered this time NOT saying i'm a customer...
guess what within 10 seconds i received the email -.-'

as for isp woes

i had them took off stability profile and my noise margins were under 10
i got down speeds up to 10729 bps (billion 7300a modem diag. results)
last 2 days, my net goes up and down, and i was wondering if it was telstra , or my newly installed windows 7 .. win7 is crap too -.-' so many freaking problems and permission bull shyt when i'm the only administator account (not even a user account, just plain old administrator)

some stupid tech picked up the phone, asked and answered a bunch of crap questions
turn the stability back on, and guess what , my speed dropped back 8 mbps after i woke up this afternoon , (my conenction went dead again. ) , effective speed is 6 mbps on speedtest.net

with desktop (lan cable)
Image
this is the crap i'm paying 49.99 for per month 50gb bandwidth plan elite

guess what

same house hold tpg
with lap top (lan cable)
Image
same price i believe 200gb bandwidth plan

same house different phone line (most likely same salisbury exchange)

tpg connection has lower noise margin, up to 11,000+ downstream
bigpond, 10729. now 8043

upstream doesn't matter at this point

and the technician say its due to distance and lines and equipment... yeah WHOSE equipment ?

****All speeds vary due to factors including network configuration, line quality & length, your exchange, your location, internet traffic, your equipment and software, and technicians and providers mood swings and screwed up ethics

previously a yr ago i was paying $150 on a 20gb plan on general communications
business type adsl 2+ , same router , same pc , same house, same phone line same exchange
god damn, same everything, but i was able to get speeds up to 12 mbps or higher
, i'm getting half that after i switched to big pond, for alot less,
yet for the same price, my house mates are getting better on thier under used tpg network...

sadly for me i got 1.5 yrs left on my fked up ripped off plan...

word of warning,... boy cott bigpond untill they feel it is necessary to upgarde to annex m adsl2+ configuration, and /or put on a more reasonable cap limits and quit thier smart-ass attitude on blaming everything else but their provision of service

I will grant T$ the fact that the value of their plan are getting better comparatively speaking but do still have a long way to go.

Even if you have 1.5 years left, assuming as well you have phone. Add up what that will cost you in that period based on your previous bills. So example lets say your last 6 bills with T$ averages to $190

average bills if you remain with T$ $190 x 18 months $3420

contract payout = $ $110 ($80 internet and $30 line rental. Assuming this is the plan you are on) x 18 months =$1980 exit costs

$3420 - $1980 = $1440 cheaper to break the contract and go elsewhere than to continue with an inferior product.

Also check to see if there has been any changes in the exchange hardware. They did this in my area and I suffered big time even though at the time I was with Netspace. T$ had moved me from an old hardware to new and that's when everything went down hill. Luckily I know the local T$ tech and he went and swapped me back and no problems since.

As you are getting a poorer or inferior product in comparison to TPG this may give you an out without having to pay anything, remember, may not for sure.

Also remember, that $1980 exit fee does not have to be paid in one lump sum. You can pay it off. Minimum amount acceptable by law off memory is $5 per week. So if you offer to pay off at the $5 per week and they refuse then they will not have any legal backlash available as you made a totally legal offer. However that being said I do recommend make a more sensible offer than that but if you get a hard time from them then offer the lowest.

Once again make the switch but NEVER disconnect before you sign up with another company. You will only be cutting your own throat as it were because you will encounter one or both of the following issues. You will be classed as a new customer and depending on the company may have to pay a connection fee and you may experience a long wait for the codes to be activated on your line. So always just ring the company you want to churn to and let them do the work. Average wait time is about 3 days and you continue to have internet during that time.

ADSL 2 + 25gb cap plan with home phone bundle. I'm stuck in this till march next year. The worst part is that isn't even my download speed. Downloading a american can is about 130kb/s which is adsl speed. And downloading Terraria Via steam which is from the bigpond game arena server was at 26kb/s. I have never hit over 400kb/s on ADSL 2 +. Also i cant download Torchlight via steam even though its a game arena content, it just gets stuck..

Sad face.

Ive been changing so much stuff lately because im getting drop outs constantly during the day, I know its most likely my land line but telstra arent exactly doing what they can to help. They added stability to my line, my download had reached 5.76mbps and my ping to melbourne was 5 with the fast line speed.

Either way its dropping out. I can switched to optus cable, i think thats my only other option at present but ive heard bad things so not sure if its worth the risk.

Should also mention on 8000 speed compared to 20000 the speed was the same.

Telstra would easily be the best and also has extremely large coverage. All the other ISP's back in the day were run like a 1950's mafia racket which is the reason they managed to survive so long. The other thing which I love about Telstra is that everyone completely oblivious to its user base. Telstra will never get **** like iiNet did with torrents.

BigPond Elite Liberty* (50GB) - Cable

Not that impressive, and for some weird reason I was faster to the servers in syd, than the ones in Bris.... Also, probably throttled a bit by wireless

That was probably inappropriate... But oh well. Call the TIO, get your contract cancelled, and don't make the same mistake again. I suggest reading http://www.broadbandchoice.com.au before making any decisions with thousands of dollars.

15GB BigPond Wireless. 99$ per month. Test taken at 11pm ( after peaktime, less stress on the towers).

For everyone who is complaining about their ADSL connections, be damn grateful you even have a landline connection. I cannon overstate how angry I am about this situation me and many others are in.

What most people don't realise is there are around 200 ISP companies in Australia.

http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/bc/?action=search

Telstra should only be used if you are old, tech-derp, a soccer mum, or you simply cannot get any other service for whatever obfuscated reason they give you.
