The game is called Draw,Cowboy! It's a classic western Shoot'em up with a twist ... you need to draw to draw! Curious ? look it up it's free on the Australian Google Play http://goo.gl/p7AMFWe are really eager to get some feedback for the aussie gaming community ! You can leave your comments here or on out facebook page http://goo.gl/hczafThank you very much for your help, Laurent Community Manager Posted with permission from cherocha, but still pending approval from Geormie "3/10" JoJo

When flicking through the levels, you should make it so I don't have to quite scroll so much. I almost have to push my finger across from one side of the screen to the other just to see the next option. I had trouble selecting the level. I had to tap around on it 4 or 5 times before something happened. The game started off smooth but then I started getting framerate issues. I had no idea what I was doing and had to guess I was supposed to draw along the blue lines. The framerate dropped so low that drawing things like circles was impossible and I was shot dead. I like the idea of the game and the visuals are beautiful, just needs some optimization and instructions for new players.
Playing on a Samsung Galaxy S3.

I wish I knew how to break into the game industry as a writter. I can't program, I have no artistic talent... But I swear I could do voice acting or write story like a pro. I always SEE "writer: Bob Bobbinson", but when positions are advertised in the game industry, it's always: "Programmer. Graphics artist..."...

Real world drama? Warhammer style future combat? Political thriller? Military non-FPS game?... Maybe a sub game? Remember how there were old sub games where you used to have to give commands to each station like a real sub commander, because there aren't windows you can just look out of? Maybe one of those?
Point and click crime thriller? Sci-fi game? Maybe a game like the sub game, but for a space ship? Star Trek style where the commander gives orders to the different parts of the ships? "Shields up. Scan the planet surface and report. Weapons fire at will"?
Lovecraftian modern horror? Lovecraftian retro horror? I always loved lovecraft, but I HATED the 30's style setting. There's something so helpless about that period of time that makes any horror seem questionable... I'm always asking myself: "Is this monster unstoppable, or is it just that you can't expect to kill anything with that damned handgun?"

Like, Tom Clancy has some games, but I don't know if he writes the games! But really, if I go home and google the name of the writers in good games, you think I'm going to find any published books by them too? I'm not suggesting I won't, I'm just saying: "Do you think that's really how it's done? Cos I can write a book... What'cha want a book about? Puppies??"

If you had any type of fiction published at all you could probably get a job writing plots for games.
Look at games that rely on plot a fair bit (single player console games especially) and you'll find the writers have experience in creative writing, one way or another. Planetside 2 got some famous sci-fi writer to do stuff... but I haven't seen anything plot intensive so not sure what the deal is. Also, lotro had pros coming up with plots and writing the dialogue.. although some of the quest lines and dialogue were really bad... love stories featuring elves.. **** me that was bad.
Far Cry 3 writer Jeffrey Yohalem: "graduating cum laude from Yale University with a degree in English Literature" (from the wiki page on him).
Games that don't rely on plot much probably just get the code monkeys to come up with stuff.
If you think you've got something, offer it to a studio and see what they say. Getting the first one off the ground will always be the hardest.

Well, that's okay, but if you google Jeffrey Yohalem, can you tell me what fiction books he's written? It says he filmed and directed a documentary called Human Eaters, and he was an intern on The Daily Show... But all his awards and recognition come from the video games he's written for. Assassin's Creed, of all things. I remember that one of the best written games I ever played was the Legacy Of Kain series... It was written by an... Amy someone? Amy Hennig!! Just used Wiki... She's not written any books either. She started straight into the gaming industry. I dunno, man. I'm willing to write a book to get into that job, but I'm not seeing a lot of evidence that there's precident.

Thanks to Tyoson for the feedback. No problem. I just updated and played again. Scored around 37 thousand points this time. The frame rate issues seem to have dissappeared. I may have just needed to restart my phone. The most difficult thing to draw is definitely the circle. I'm shot once every single time I'm faced with a circle enemy haha, good fun though!

Similar story for disability payments. It's a bad joke.

I could give you a long winded speech about how Centrelink lazy **** haven't reviewed my disability case properly so I miss out on it by the slightest of margins but it makes me rage and I want to go to sleep. The dole payments have gone up by about $13 since I was last on it in 99ish. age pensions up about 100ish over the same period roughly. Roughly everytime your electricity bill goes up by $20 a month at least your pension goes up $2. Rate of growth doesnt match with rate of increases on pension which is the bigger **** of the 2. the dole doesn't go up often because its not meant for living on. As for getting a Job, get ****.

But that's my point exactly, the rate for newstart is so disproportionately low that people who need it end up living well below the poverty line. A lot of people don't have much choice in their circumstances. Sure you get heaps of bludgers, but you also get people who genuinely want to work. Then you have people like toots who can't work for health reasons, single parents, pensioners - but they all get **** in the **** when it comes to benefits. I wouldn't mind paying a little more tax if it was going to ensure fairer benefits, but the fact remains that we wouldn't have to if big business was getting taxed what it should be.

Yeah I'm positive that happens a lot. Hmmm, charming. Amy doesn't seem to have any exceptional university training at all, according to the wiki page. What I'm suggesting is maybe your idea isn't the key, and there's another process that needs to be followed aside from: "Write a book and hope that some person in the industry reads it and thinks you're awesome and calls you". It seems like there's a great deal of "Who you know", seeing as the position of writer isn't one that's generally advertised. Maybe the key is to break into the industry through another means and than show an apptitude once on the inside.

sure. Start with an entry level job and see how it goes. The point is no one anywhere is going to give you a job that requires a certain skill set unless you show you have those skills, one way or another.
eg Let's say I go to Joaby and say "I think it's easy to come up with 3000 words on a game or gaming subject, keep it interesting and readable and somehow as good as or better than what already gets thrown at you on a daily basis." He'd probably say something like "that's nice" or "you're cute - send pics" or "then stfu and do it dum ****."
Alternatively I could actually write said article and submit it and see what happens. I'm sure that, if it was good enough or maybe close to good enough, I'd get a response.
The point is, if I was so sure I could do it, I'd just do it.
