Yeah. I have both ham and roast (chicken n pork.) at Christmas dinner. I tried the whole hipster seafood dinner crap. Wasn't the same. I guess it was the fact there wasn't some chick slaving away in a hot kitchen that ruined it for me... I don't know.

my Christmases usually consist of BBQ prawns plus a gazillion other meats and foods brought by my strangely growing Italian family. Seriously, the Italian stereotype must be true because every year I get more relatives showing up who I have never met. The food is like the only reason I'm willing to tolerate so many of the smelly bastards, they really know how to cook.

Damned Italians, shooting DNA at each other all year round! Lucky for them that pasta and cheese have made me too fat to chase them down and thin them out!

How can seafood be hipster... is it because a lot(?) of hipsters are vegetarians and seafood is like, sometimes ok or something?
Fisherman don't look like hipsters to me.

That is true. Speaking of fish. I went fishing the other day. Because all i have had the urge for lately is fish cooked on a fire. Nothing special. just chuck the fish on a grill over a open fire . Mhmmmm Anyway. Caught this beautiful murray cod. It was the perfect length. but it had a massive hook through its mouth already. Up through the roof of its mouth and out just under his eye. It must have been there for a while as the roof of his mouth was a little black and he had a ulcerated lip caused by the hook. It was a little on the skinny side as in didn't weigh as much as it should of for its length. The hook must have been hindering its feeding. Anyway. I couldn;t kill this poor bastard as he seemed such a fighter. And i thought it would have been so cruel to kill it now,. So i took the large hook out and sent him free. I think i am going soft. As i am starting to think ppl who go out roo/pig/ goat shooting and just shoot the animals for the sake of it are ****. If you aren't going to eat it or sell it. Why kill it? Thats what i think anyway.

Carp is the desease of the fresh water. I catch heaps of carp at the Murray, I dont really try and catch Cod. The Euro family loves when I catch a big Carp for them when camping.

Its not easy to catch fish out of a deep fryer. They just dont bite, no matter what bait you use.

seafood for christmas lunch is like giving presents at easter instead of chocolate eggs. It's an abomination of the natural order of things and people who engage in such behaviour should be shot.

then roll up an oyster with wasabi in the tongue and eat it. It's hot in Australia in december if you want to eat all that roasted hot food all day then you should **** off to the northern hemisphere.

Christmas is all about tradition, save the seafood for Easter. Roast duck with a nice sauce and the roast vegies all around it, best Christmas dinner I ever had.

I guess those Vietnamese rolls are meat and veg in rice paper and not bread rolls and i had forgotten about black rice. My favorite snack of all time is those rice paper rolls such a fresh crunchy morsel.
Thanks cherocha I am feeling inspired.
