yeah nah this is over done. If you have taken a taxi in the last few weeks without calling it or caught it at night you will know that theres a lot that don't take a lot of fares unless they are big or worth it, even if its on the way of the taxi driver if hes about to finish.

Taxi drivers refuse to take me places if they are about to take another job, I'm going the wrong direction for them, it's too far out of their way or they are finishing up... But it sounds like this Taxi was called for him and was waiting for him? Gonna be hard to paint that as anything innocent.

You are actually correct for once. My dad is a taxi driver and I have worked as security at a taxi rank (night time weekends).

But, they drive off when they see someone they don't like. When I approach a taxi with someone who was obviously "being told to get the **** in a cab" they would take off 95% of the time. You can report them for it if you care enough.

I got turned away by an indian cabbie that wouldnt take me from brisbane to the gold coast once, the dumb **** pulled over after he finally got his gps to show where he had to go.
He tried to make me get out on some random street but I got him to take me back to the rank where he was going anyway.

The story doesn't seem to suggest that he pulled up and drove off... At least, not the way I was reading it. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like it was a 'waiting taxi'. IE: The taxi had been called and told to wait outside for this customer.
