Hello, I am having an odd issue where I can only download from steam gamearena servers. I know this because whenever I try to download a game not on their servers the bar goes from empty to full and the download stops after a certain point. I tried avencast, assassin's creed brotherhood, bioshock 2, overlord raising hell and painkiller black edition, only avencast seems to work so far. any other ideas what could cause this? I am capped but I should still be able to use steam even if it is slow. whenever uncapped it works fine. thanks

Go into your control panel, go to power options, click choose when computer sleeps, change to never, start your download then go to bed.When you wake the game should have finished downloading.If it hasn't go do something else for a few days, if it still hasn't pay for a better plan or another service provider.

Oh woe for the person who is capped you will have to wait until you are uncapped seriously this capping or shaping should be banned.

I was once in your shoes you may as well shut the inter tube down and go read a book until your torment in hell is over.

Like nings says get a better plan that's what i used to do just before i went over my limit i would get a better plan for a month for more downloads then change back to a cheaper plan the next month.

I don't think any one with a land line would use Telstra in a pink fit i mean you would have to be insane to pay for a gig limit when for the same price you can get unlimited.

thanks, btw the issue is that the download only gets to say 125.3kb and then stops, certain titles like half-life 2 deathmatch, garry's mod, assassin's creed revelations (formerly), nation red etc all work but others like space trader, legendary, painkiller etc all stop, hell deus ex 3 the missing link stops at a couple of bytes complete. normally, if a steam game is gonna download properly, the meter goes up bit by pit not all in one go. could it be that steam may only get the manifest from the garena servers therefore missing most of the files? would make sense since I have to restart entirely for the issue to be fixed once I am uncapped or use my ipad 3g over tether (on 3g normally, they would not put another line in and my grandfather did not want to change).

EDIT: case in point, space trader merchant marine, gets to 125.3kb and then stops, not go to suspended, just plain stops dead, leave it for an hour, still nothing, pause and start, nothing, turn it off and try again the next day, nothing, another example: Obulis-44mb, does not download, need to delete and restart when uncapped to get any progress.

This might be an issue better taken up with either the Steam forums, or the Ask A Geek section. These guys will have you downloading midget in a mask **** and giving you their credit card details.
