I've downloaded the files from two different sources (torrent and GA) and in both cases I get an extraction error when trying to extract the files. Anyone know what to do about this?

I'm getting 1.5MB/s on my optus cable. It'll probably go up as the download continues.
Edit - Up to 2.4MB/s

I managed to succesfully extract/install the files but now i can't work out how to launch it. There's no .exe in the BMS directory apart from the setup (which doesn't work, I tried), there's no mention of it in steam (not surprising since it's not actually linked to steam despite the fact that it's installed in the steam directory) and launching the SDK just opens up a Lost Coast video stress test launcher. No desktop icon either. Any help?
EDIT: Never mind, a restart of Steam put Black Mesa into the Library.

FFS 12 hours of downloading and archive error.
I wish I knew why I still can only get 200kb/s max now. I'm on an ADSL2 elite plan.

Well it's running at last and for some reason Gordon jumps like paraplegic i managed to get to the chasm where you have to jump on the pipes i managed to get across the gap and he won't jump up.

Long jump is your friend Zaraq, crouch + jump ftw
I'm stuck near the end of "We've got hostiles" V22 is flying over the shaft and soldiers are abseiling down, but for some reason some soldiers stay hidden behind stuff and are able to shoot through walls...

I was under the impression you needed the long jump module before you could long jump? And you only get that at the very end of Lambda Complex (as you're about to go to Xen). Are you able to long jump before that?

The jumping puzzles in half life were fine. I loved the jumping between giant stalk things on Xen in the late game. And I don't even remember any meaningful jumping puzzles in HL2. There were a couple of roof jumping sequences in ravenholm but nothing with terribly low tolerance.

I can't believe how damn good this game is... awesome remake of an awesome game. It seemlessly goes from platformer to shooter to puzzle game and does so just often enough to keep you interested. If i didn't have work tomorrow I'd probably play this all night.

What's getting me the most is the sound quality. They obviously put so much work into recording all the individual sounds and voice acting. Things sound like they should sound, they've added more interaction between characters in the opening sequences and added more bridging between HL1 and 2 with Kleiner and Vance.

Oh man. When you're holding the crossbow you can see a true image of the scope even when you're not scoped in. I haven't ever seen that in a game, normally it's just a lens-effect of a generic backdrop.
(EDIT 2 hours of solid Black Mesa-ing later) and when you use the laser to burn through the wall the glow effect looks unreal. There's even dripping liquid concrete on the pipe below the burn mark. My thought upon climbing through the burn hole was "I gotta get me one of these".

Hilariously, Borderlands 2 does this and I had to think hard about whether this was a commonality when I played BMS on Sat.

So, I've played it a little. I quietly hung around watching a Head Crab chew some guys skull and watching a Head Crab Zombie shoving another guys head into it's stomach mouth... I was waiting for them to finish eating, trying to be polite. They never did. So, when I was done fapping too it, I had to move on.

Fantastic game, just finished it... but no xen!
It turns out the Xen section is being made into its own fleshed out game. I hope we don't have to wait the same amount of time for it to come out.

I thought it was just a redraw of the main screen and not properly zoomed in. Still, better than most can't say they didn't recreate it well though, although the guard on the train doesn't say beep bop boop when he opens the tram, and the puzzle sections (that **** room of boom, and the tower of portals ) are just as annoying as they were a few years ago when I finally got that anniversary copy for cheap

All you do is crouch jump. Nah, tried that... I had to perfect the running crouch jump. Did you know that if you gather up enough energy in a full run and then suddenly buckle your knees in an attempt to keep running while squatting, you'll gain an extra foot of height when you throw your broken body up into the air? I suspect something was wrong with my floating tanks, it wasn't raising the platform enough. I had all the tanks, but I'm thinking they needed to be re-arranged after watching other people's play throughs of that area.

and i think u had to run along the wall side and jump even tho the walkway seems to extend further across (slightly) away from the wall - its the same with a jump later where u can do it near the wall (in the silo)

In contrast, there are some jumps where the wall SEEMS like it has the largest and closest landing area, but if you attempt to jump near the wall the invisible ledge will shove you out at about 90 degrees, shooting you off the platform and into whatever terror lurks below.

Is it easy to download and install? Walk me through this thing, I'm used to really basic installations like with DayZ.

Do 1st: Open the Steam Go to the Library. Change the list to Tools. Find and double-click on the Source SDK item. Read over the dialog box and click Download and Install / Next to continue The Source SDK will then be downloaded to your computer via Steam. just 2007 u dont need 2006 (it will have both in d/l window but 2006 will stay paused) when thats all done and d/l'd Do 2nd: easiest way to get black mesa is this fast torrent - then just use the .exe http://kat.ph/black-mesa-source-ndash-f ... 58388.html

(1)To play Black Mesa all you'll need is the 2007 Source SDK which you can install by going to Library > Tools menu in Steam. (2) http://www.gamearena.com.au/downloads/d ... client-v10. ((3) 7-zip. Install then restart Steam and the game should appear in your games library although it didn't for me so i created a short cut from the installer to run the game.
