Hardy from the Day Zed show and I just had an awesome night on Namalsk. We got ourselves whitelisted on AU46 and jumped on in a strong moonlight. We met up and sorted out weapons only to realise we were both really really cold and had both become sick. No amount of heatpacks seemed to placate the cold and the zeds were getting extra alert so we we headed west out of the Old Yard towards Alakit. When we got about 50m from the town we came under fire from somewhere beyond it, hardy taking a non-fatal round. Instead of trying to return fire we withdrew due to the proximity of zeds so I could patch hardy up, and we circled around the 'town' (it's **** tiny) to approach it from the other side. As we approached we saw green and white smoke in the town so we assumed the assailant was amongst the buidlings. Taking up fire positions we waited until we had good eyes on the target.
First thing we noticed, shooting straight when you're cold is **** hard - your hands shake all over the place. Taking advantage of the nearby zeds' disinterest in my SD mags I opened fire on the bandit, putting a dozen rounds around him as he legged it out of the compound wall, diving behind an iron trailer. Hardy, eager for revenge, infurated by his sickness and forgetting his gun wasn't silent to zeds, had had enough. A single shot rang out in the night as he pumped the trigger on his M249 just once. Despite the shaking, the cold, and the ironsights at 100m, the bandit dropped. First kill goes to Hardy.
We recovered what useful items we could from the bandit (M16A4 ACOG, score) but realised we were both running very short on food and drink, and decided to head west to the industrial town of Lubjansk to search for matchs and cans. However our trip was interrupted by the spotting of a PBX hidden behind a cliff face on the approach to the Northern Army Base. Smoke from the army base suggested more hostile forces contained within, so we decided to stake out their boat for when they returned.
Alas, 10 minutes of camping later and they had not, so I ventured down to the boat to determine its condition. Fortune favoured us as the boat was functional despite having 20% fuel in the tank. We quickly leapt in and headed west in search of matches, fuel and food.
An hour later we stashed the boat, having found fuel but still found no matches, food or drink.
This server really is awesome, it's like Dayz as it used to be, with a fresh feel and interesting map design. Thermals on the L85 are deactivated, and NVGs can break, so night time is no longer to be feared by the ill-equipped. Weapons are many but basic supplies are sparse - we were never comfortably equipped with food and drink like we normally are within 10 minutes of spawning on chernarus, so the looting was thorough and had a sense of urgency. Zombies are also far more numerous. Without SD mags we would have had a lot of trouble making our way through towns tonight. Everyone who misses DayZ should check out AU46 and get themselves whitelisted.
It's like a nightclub bouncer with a list. The server has a program running in the background which checks the GUID of everyone who tries to join the server. If their GUID isn't on the whitelist, they get booted before getting to the player screen. It means everyone who wants to play on the server has to register on the website, and while they let anyone register, if anyone hacks or exploits they get GUID banned and would need to get a new game key. Even GUID spoofing isn't going to be terribly effective since the spoofer would need to know what GUIDs are on the list in the first place.
It's not a perfect system, even more hack-proof would be a whitelist server which is invite only, but it's better than risking it in the public servers.
There's a bit of a process, you have to create a forum account which includes getting your DayZ GUID written down, then apply for whitelist, then sit on their TS in the "waiting to be whitelisted" channel until an admin comes along and processes it.
the warm clothing gear i got right on top of the peak at the military base south island - they spawn in the radar instillation and look like usual camo gear - brown paper bundle wrapped up with string sitting on the ground
getting up there was difficult - used all the heatpacks then had to light fires and sit on them now an again to stop the cold icon from flashing and that doesnt last long once u set off away from the fire going uphill.
the cold shakes make it very very difficult to shoot over distance
when i got to the top there was a guy already up there looking around so i had to shoot him then go around looting
there is supposedly an armory near the interesting objective map location south of the old sawmills over the rail bridge thru the rail yards then up the road a little to the south west - supposedly that armory has almost everything you could want but its usually locked up by squads staking the place out with sniper rifles electro style
im just near there atm the last time i played there were Z everywhere so i knew someone was there but it was late so instead of getting into a prolonged battle by going in i logged off - if i make it thru next time i log in then i will let u kno
Sounds good man, Hardy and I both have warm clothes now, I have an M4A1 CCO SD which has proven absolutely invaluable against all the zeds, and Hardy's totting an M16A4 M203 with a handful of 40mm rounds. We're having trouble locating food since animals are pretty sparse. One can each at the moment, we have full sets of hunting tools but no meat to cook.
We messed up another guy tonight, we were approaching the tower south of Sebjan Warehouse and noticed him about 30m from us running towards the tower at a similar angle. We were crouch running in warm clothes though so he didn't spot us, so we waited until he climbed to the first floor of the tower and unleashed a coordinated burst to wipe him out. When I checked his body he didn't even have any ammo for his SAW, was pretty funny.
That description of the armoury location is really ambiguous, there's not a whole lot south of the old sawmill?
Got whitelisted last night with BB, turns out Starscream is one of the freaking admins over there, which is hilarious.
Jumped on, found myself running across Tara bridge. Down the bridge I can see two dudes' silhouettes, but side is turned off and we're out of range of direct... I can actually pick the moment, like a minute after I could see them, that they noticed me as we continued to run towards each other when suddenly they both hit the deck.
I'd been expecting it for minutes, so I ran to one of the alcoves on the bridge as bullets started pinging harmlessly by. One of them lies down and sights me in with something, firing everytime I lean out to check where they are. The second one creeps hard down the other side of the bridge. I'm pretty sure one of them has an ACOG scope, because he can see me well outside of my visible range of him - I have an AKM, so iron sights only.
I make a quick sprint across the bridge to an alcove on the other side, they're completely unprepared, and I lean out and take some shots at the man on point. I'm pretty sure I hit him, but I can't be sure. He ducks into an alcove and I turn to shoot towards the man covering. I'm just firing at where I was being shot from, so I don't get a hit.
I sprint back across the bridge and try to lean out over the alcove to see if I can see point man, but I can't. I lean back to see cover guy and he times me on it. I get shot, go in shock and start bleeding. He must send a few full clips my way while I bandage, and I know exactly why - point man has bandaged and is coming my way. I keep watch over the alcoves, but I have to keep popping my head out to keep him from simply sprinting down the bridge.
Eventually I duck my head out to see cover guy, and when I pop back into the alcove Point man is standing there. He shoots me dead easy.
I up at Nemsk Factory and decide to just leg it back down to try to kill the bastards. I stop at Old Hospital to raid the school and hospital and I find nothing - while I'm at the school though, I see two dudes with M16 variant weapons in the supermarket. They leave for Tara Harbor, and I figure I'll head down, see if I can convince them to let me cruise with them and then shoot them when I find a gun. As I leave for Tara Harbor, I find a Lee Enfield in one of the hotels and I decide I'm just gonna shoot them instead.
I carry on down to Tara Harbor, where they'd headed, and suddenly I see them, cavorting near a ute. They both hop in the hilux and start driving away from me, so I unload a full clip into it. I don't think I hit, but I sprint down towards them while reloading anyway. Somehow they crash into a tree and they both hop out. I put one of them down with ease and the other one starts firing back at me. Unfortunately for him, the gunfire draws in zombies and he can't stay still to draw a bead on me with a much better weapon. As he simultaneously tries to kill zombies and serpentine away from the zombie spawning buildings I finally get a line on him and he drops. I can't be certain, but I think zombies finish off an unconscious enemy as opposed to me killing him.
I get down to their bodies and loot what I can - there's a m4 holo, not an acog, but I guess it's all better than nothing. I hide their bodies when I'm done, and I'm checking out the ute when a guy runs up and says "Why did you hide the bodies?" I reply with "Did you guys shoot me down on Tara bridge?" and he actually transmits a long pause and then 'uh... no' like the guilty sonofabitch he was. I said "I didn't even want to shoot at you guys." and he goes "We were gonna let you past but you wouldn't respond!" and I explain the details of direct chat. Then I leave, him still alive, because they've gotta know I got the better of them.

How did you figure that out so quickly? took me ages to realise that
I guess whoever the admin was that approved his whitelisting told him? I noticed you're a BB right Pjano. Havent seen you ingame. You dont play Namalsk much?
I think Im just going to avoid picking up sniper rifles from now on. Found an M24 down in the bunker at A2 earlier today. So I was fully kitted out- warm clothes, sniper rifle, M4 variant, you know how it goes. Logged out just outside the wall in the trees. Jumped back in later cos I was bored and decided to climb up the mountain and just overwatch A2 and see if I could wreck a few peoples day. I'd been in for 20 seconds and was in my inventory when I come under fire. Slalom for a bit and run into a tree to bandage but he got me.
Every freakin time I pick up a sniper rifle, it ends in disaster shortly after. Every freakin time.
nah haven't installed namalsk or lingor yet coz I couldn't be bothered yet
Got in an epic car chase last night. 4 of us were looting a broken truck with a green hatchback when some random white car drove past. We shot our 2 DMRs, CZ550 and and M249 SAW at it as it drove away. Then we started chasing it in a high speed chase, doing drifts around corners need for speed style. I skidded around one corner and knocked down a tree with the car but we kept going. Eventually the guy drove past a hill with a M107 sniper on it so we fled after that
Probably cos I had no intention of using it. As soon as the idea pops into my head, its like I anger the Gods and they say 'Nope, We're not having any of this ****.' and strike me down with a rain of bullets from some arch angel in a ghilli suit.
I've united half the server on BB into a massive gang. I'm hoping that the other half of the server will team up so we can get some epic wars happening
yeah it would be super lol if half his posts wont edited to "gay" we saved what we could tho
I saw that. Strange thing for a rich man with 300 X-Boxs to spend his time doing, editing all his posts to reflect his sexual leanings.
So... Any news on Single Player yet?

I dont mind if the money actually goes to running the server but many of these "we run a server so donate clans" are really just started by someone to make some money off players good will that will fund the server but also side projects like that new GPU or getting the missus a new dildo.

Like Johnny5 with his Spark bf3 clan. Then he has a metal break down because his hair brain idea isn't generating money.
