anyone in the gw2 beta? they only have it open for a few days at a time right? if you preorder you can get into the beta, but if its only for a few days i think ill pass

Just watch Yogscast Guild Wars 2 on youtube they have full coverage. I dont give a **** about the beta I want the real game.

yeah closed beta was only 3 days. But at least I got to try it and figure out what I want in regards to pre-ordering or not.

I want in..but I'm not sure how I can get the full game. I found out that even purchasing the physical version from EB only gives me the CD with the install client on it, not the full game, and since I'm on wireless.....

Don't care about the beta events though.

We'll hit up arenanet to try and get the files to host here Toddster, but it is as always up to them whether we can host it.

Weird... I actually want to play this game.

NCSoft is the publisher they may have hard copies for sale. Arena-net only sells a digital version directly from the GW2 website.

EDIT: I'd also buy it from the Games shop if you guys had it, but it would need to be the entire game (folders) as the installer would just install it from their servers.

EDIT 2: I see you have the entire Aion game on the site for download, hopefully NCsoft allow you to do the same here.


Well I found out that the copies retailers sell will contain a DVD, but the only thing that is on that DVD is the client installer, which then downloads the game from the internet. :/

Arena-Net have a facebook for Guild Wars hit em up on there with the question.

If you have a legitimate query support will answer, they still have GW1 with millions of players so their support avenues are still very active.

Anyone know when they plan to release the client? bit worried as people here have meantioned that they have received a disc that permits download, all i got was a piece of paper with a code on it.

My guess is tomorrow morning our time. If it's any later, it will be Thursday morning. They can't expect hundreds of thousands to get it in 2 days..the speeds will be very slow.

The client is now available for download. I sent a request through Gamearena's file request, but so far no one has contacted me...

I'm downloading the client now, the way I see it is they'd need to .zip up the main data file to upload it here.

Yeah, but I still think they need permission to host it. Not too sure though, because I believe some people have uploaded it on other sites and are giving out the links (to help keep the download speeds high)

I don't think they have given out the server list yet, unfortunately, so no idea.

It's basically official, most aussies will be on the server "Sea of Sorrows" as voted on GW2guru. Looks like many guilds will be there also.

Pre purchased from them i believe. Thousands will be playing yes....but not from here.

I bought the game but the serial key I have is in use so I cant register an account or access the beta.

I wasnt born with a ****** so I dont understand why every **** tries to **** me. Arena-Net you sell me a game and give me a game key that is already being used, I is not happy right now, I probly wont make this weekends beta if your support takes forever.

My scenerio (might help people understand the process perhaps)
- Put down $10 to preorder the standard version from EB and they gave me a key
(keys came in on the 16th (i preordered after that date) if you preordered before that date you would of been emailed the key, if not you will need to go back in and tell them that you did not receive it)
- i used the key to create a GW2 account, shortly after i received the thank you email
- last night i received an email that informed me that the client is ready for me to download (these emails have been distributed in batchs in order to prevent server death
- tried to use the link they gave me but could not find the stated thread, looked around teh interwebs for a while and managed to get the 20mb gw2.exe from IGN i think (which took 3 hours to dl.....)
- ran the exe (client) which then started to download 20GB of updates, so went to bed
- checked it out this morning and i am good to go (clicked run and it stated that there is no beta open at the moment, i then commenced giggyness and continued to fap to the idea that the beta will be live tomorrow morning at 4am melbs time. sadly it wasnt until after i finished that i realised i am working 5am till 7pm tomorrow. TIL other peoples tears are more soothing than my own...

well guess i gotta go get my key the kents didnt send me one. i cant find my preorder receipt too lol. Maybe i didnt pre order.

Nah get this, I went down to the store. Talked to the hot blonde with big boobies and a plump rump oh the beta testing i'd do to that meow....

but i digress. she couldnt find "my key" as to her words "there was one here this morning and its only for collectors" so I asked does that mean you oversold ce versions here and someones getting screwed and she goes manager comes back in about an hour ill call you then when we find out. So then an hour later after i sat in the food court perving on the hotties while eating a muffin and drinking a milkshake no phone call. went back because i finished and they had one and the manager was like i guess im not playing the beta then and i go whys that and he goes oh nothing. hopefully the blonde still calls.

my key works btw. I'll be playing it for like 20 minutes this weekend because i already play it.

I finally got a result out of the **** web forms they provided us to enter account details and purchase GW2 with.

It turns my key is registered to the email I entered into the web form but the account seems to be completely broken.

- My account password does not work for my email xeper.gaming@gmail.com
- I cant reset my password in the account registration form where you enter your serial key because the link is dead and some weird html source code comes up on a new page.
- I located a main log in page which also fails to reset my password.
- I received a beta declaration email stating I can play in the beta but I cant download the client from the link provided because my account is dead.

My receipt was sent along with my serial code to xeper.gaming@gmail.com and also the email stating I can now play in the beta was also sent to that same email. All I can is wait till 12am and talk to live support because the email ticket system is completely flooded and I will be here till next year waiting for an email from support..

yeah i sent a support ticket asking what time the closed beta started and got it 2 days after the event ended.

start time should've been something that was included with "hey you can play on these days"

hey anyone on one of those new black telstra modems and "unable to connect to log in"?
error page for gw2 states that it is a routing issue caused by the modem or ISP.
As i had a tonne of issues setting up a mc server (of awesome) and the fact that there isnt a mass outcry from telstra customers i am going with the damn modem.

If any one has had this issue and has amanaged to sort it, could they please let me know? Thanks heaps

go to this and follow it. Its like opening port forwarding type ****. I dunno exactly but it worked really well for cod and seems to have increased overall performance of downloading p2p stuff like wow patches etc. May help in this situation.

I just had a quick go of the intro noob area, I am disappointed, I expected it to be better than it currently is

the open betas much laggier and theres a few changes like no vendor that sells weapons so your stuck with the **** you find and you have to buy stuff to harvest. the xp seems to have been toned down so now your leveling slower.

The lag might be due to the huge influx of players but still I havent seen any real lag.


When I logged in it was exactly what I expected it to be, **** awesome.

nah, turns out i am an idiot and was trying to get in 24 hours early, all issues on the net from the last beta pointed out that people were having issues with the modem. and as i had 4 mates in my ear that it was open and previous bad experience with this modem i fell for it.

I think you should get some new friends because there was a countdown timer on the official website guildwars2.com and the beta is still going probly till 6am tuesday morning.
