Anyone know if Planetside 2 is on the GA servers?

Are you guys sure that portal 2 and bad company 2 are on the servers?

I use Steam Limiter and the program has worked for TF2 and a few other games but when i try to begin the download for Bad Company 2 and Portal 2 im just stuck on the screen that says "Preparing files for install..."

I've been reading around on a few other threads and some people say this happens because the content might not be on the servers.

I dont know if this is true but can someone tell me if they have downloaded Portal 2 or Bad Company 2 from the GA servers?

Thanks

Have you checked that it was indeed unmetered?

Due to the unreliable nature of the filters it's not really enough to know it downloaded with a filter active to say it's on the GA server.

I believe this list is irrelevent as it is incorrect. From the author of Steam Limiter;

http://whrl.pl/Rdh8W3

"The big issue with Telstra BigPond is that they are running filtered servers, which means only their customers can connect to them (similarly to NZ ISPs, which are all filtered due to them all running underprovisioned servers in a market with ridiculously poor inter-ISP peering).

Valve have a new download system which uses HTTP. This system selects servers via DNS, and thus it doesn't adapt to the presence of filtered servers particularly well. So, filtered servers = no HTTP support, and this means there is absolutely no way for customers of ISPs which use filtered servers to download via HTTP unmetered. So, the BigPond filtered Steam servers simply don't get the HTTP content replicated to them, and they don't serve that download protocol, and because the selection of download system (HTTP or port 27030) is set at Valve's end per game, if a game doesn't download with my filter running then it basically won't ever download unmetered until Telstra BigPond get with the game and turn off filtering on their Steam content servers to enable HTTP support.

Since most Australian (and South African, for that matter) ISPs are rather better and have their Steam servers both unmetered and unfiltered, you have the option of switching ISPs to get better gaming service for Steam downloads."

Games *not* on the Telstra server as verified by Netmon/TCPview;
Metro2033
Warhammer GOTY
Darksiders
CoH
Saints Row: The Third

X-Com: Enemy Unknown doesn't seem to be available which is rather disappointing.

Has anyone tried Far Cry 3?

As I have said time and time again, the only real meaning of the list in the OP is that the games were at some point available - if you want a more accurate description you will have to look through the thread and find out the time at which the game was available. Clearly it's impossible for the list to be up to date all the time since it's only possible to determine whether a game is available or not when someone tries to download it, and no-one's going to systematically go down the list and try to download every game every few weeks to keep it up to date.

How do get GA to host things on the steam servers? Or aren't they able to choose what is on them?

Really need Far Cry 3 and Planetside 2 stored on the GA ones.

For those on Bigpond looking for unmetered download, I found this:

http://www.gamearena.com.au/downloads/d ... -v20121121

Funny that when you search via the GameArena search function it doesn't come up... but I'm happy because that's 6.6 Gb that doesn't go towards my cap...

Hi guys, sorry i havent updated the list in a while, i have been traveling abroad and then moved to Darwin for work. So now i dont need the list as i have unlimited adsl, or will have ive been thinking of signing up with ClubTelco as no contracts ... anwyay..

One of you guys should step up and start a new thread like this one you can copy and paste anything you like from my list and upgrade it all new and improved like. Then get it stickied.

its really a matter of trial and error, you could always post something your interested in and see if some knows, or can delete a small part of their game and the try to re-download it...

This thread is generally troll free, it's just that all the people who used to regularly contribute have moved onto higher quota plans or changed provider so they no longer need the list. You guys can attempt to operate it yourself but keep in mind the only way anyone is going to be able to tell you what's "on the server" is what they've successfully downloaded and checked their usage to make sure it was unmetered. Don't just trust steam if it's downloading when your filter is "working", verify afterwards.

i always run resource monitor from task manager to check what server its downloading from but steam content server limiter works well, if only there was more to dl, but i realise why that is

I think its time for Tropico 3 and expansion to go off the list. Just bought it and can't get it to download from GA, I'll keep trying and if it ends up working Ill report back, but it doesn't look like it.

Steam changed it's content delivery system to a new version, it runs through HTTP I believe. Limiter programs are pretty much obsolete.

iinet's freezones are updated to the new HTTP download system, so steam-limiter still works fine on that.

It's just bigpond falling behind.
