Battlefield 2 is a truly great multiplayer game. This game has enjoyed incredible longevity.
Battlefield 2 was released on June 21, 2005 and still has a population of players as of today, January 30, 2013. That is nearly 8 years worth of gaming, a very long time in the life of computer games.
Battlefield 2 features large 64 player maps. The game is almost a battle simulator, but the game focus is on fun. It is a fun game with quite advanced and intelligent features. The point i am trying to make is that Battlefield 2 is not a dumbed down game, and it is not a simulator. It is simply a good game with great features.
Battlefield 2 is not just a simple first person shooter. It contains vehicles, heaps of them. There are jeeps, tanks, boats, planes, choppers, air craft carriers and armoured personel carriers. The game is complex but fun. I doubt any person would be able to master all the aspects of the game. Each vehicle and infantry class requires a different skill to master. People play this game a lot of hours and you will notice certain people specialise in different skills. The game simply does not get old, because there is always something new to do.
This game can be played on a full server. I suspect the game is rarely played to its full potential. The game features a commander role and a squad VOIP system. The commander is able to talk to squad leaders and squad leaders can talk to their squads. If you have ever watched the movie Black Hawk Down, you will get an idea of what is possible. The commander role is an aerial view of the battle, much like the general co-ordinating the attack at the command centre in the movie Black Hawk Down. Battlefield 2 features strategic objectives that can give a team an advantage, it is not just a simple first person shooter game.
In this paracgraph i will give some examples of the stragic features of the game. Before capturing a control point a squad leader can request, from the commander a UAV overflight. The UAV overflight highlights the enemy positions, this of course offers a strategic advantage.
The P90 is a great gun for smashing tank drivers in the face when they come at me after cracking their tank open. There are plenty of players that could drop me with with any gun including the P90, I just find it the most effective for what I do in the game if Im AT. I consider myself a flag ***** nowdays. Somthing like 18,000 flag caps 18,000 flag assists 10,000 defends.
You had main for about 30 seconds. I seem to remember thinking 'meh', when you said you were capping main but I still cruised in, hustled you out of your APC and smeared you all over the helipad with it, whilst recapping.
I could never recover from Wake Island. Playing that much Wake fashioned me into a mad dog player. Having donated thousands of frags to chopper jet tank rape I think I have mastered the art of not giving a ****.
