I used to play AOE quite a bit but then graduated to Starcraft. After a hiatus from rts games I then got right into Cossacks, European Wars and its follow up, The Art of War. Here I found a game which (at least in my mind) solved the problem of AOE and AOE2 namely crap AI, Unit Pathing, and organisation of units. Cossacks also gives an attacking player a chance against a devensive player who digs in. The games are remarkably similar to look at, but lets face it, if you are developing a game then you should look no further than the very best of a genre, and AOE in its day was indeed that. What does everyone think?
As far as I know (and I don't know much) it shouldn't be. The next game is supposedly a Mythical verison of AOE II.
But I will search for a demo of this game and try it out. It sounds like it may be a good buy. I haven't bought a new game for a while so this could be the one, Thanks........

Well download the Cossacks demo last night and played for about half an hour. Seems to be easy to get the hang of and I can see how people would think it to be another verion to AOE.
The overall game play is VERY similar to the of AOE just produced by different company. Overall I think I'll stick to AOEII plenty of players still to be found on zone. I dont think Cossacks is worth forking out money for if you already have AOEII as Cossacks is just jazzed up verion of AOE.
If someone has the demo and wishes to play a multiplayer game and prove me wrong post here !!!
